NORSEMEN SWEEP BRUINS, WIN 12TH IN A ROW!

The first place St. Cloud Norsemen win 12 games in a row to take a 5-point lead over the Bruins in the Central Division, completing a weekend sweep of Austin with a 5-1 victory on the road Saturday night.

Forwards Nik Hong and Ryan O’Neill scored a pair of goals each in the win for St. Cloud. O’Neill, the University of St. Thomas commit, reached the 50-point mark on the season with two goals and an assist (23G-28A-51P). Hong has 13 goals and 39 points on the season. Blake Perbix, a St. Cloud Cathedral graduate and Northern Michigan commit tallied his 16th goal of the season. Ethan Dahlmeir earned the win in goal for the Norsemen making 15 saves, capturing three wins in the last five games for St. Cloud.

St. Cloud won Friday’s contest 5-4 on home ice at the Municipal Athletic Complex. Hunter Hanson scored a goal and added two assists to lead the Norsemen in scoring. Blake Mesenburg had a shorthanded goal assisted by Hanson, and Mesenburg now leads the North American Hockey League with five shorthanded goals this season, three of them assisted by Hanson.

Jackson Hughes also earned a goal and an assist in Friday’s victory, while Brandon Lajoie (Alaska-Anchorage) scored on the power play and Hong scored the eventual game-winner, as the Bruins fought back with a late tally to make it a one-goal game. Tomas Bolo earned the win in goal making 24 saves, his 9th win in the Norsemen 12-game streak.
