ST. CLOUD ADDS NINE DURING NAHL DRAFT

Jun 15, 2022

The St. Cloud Norsemen added nine players to its arsenal in the 2022 North American Hockey League Draft.

The Norsemen drafted six forwards, two defensemen and a goaltender in the opening nine rounds of the draft.

St. Cloud began the NAHL draft with a familiar face, selecting former Norsemen forward Jack Reimann in the 2nd round with the 51st overall pick. Reimann is no stranger to the Norsemen, playing 49 games with St. Cloud in the 2020-21 season, before joining Sioux Falls in the United States Hockey League in the 2021-22 season. In 49 games with St. Cloud, Reimann, a 2002-born Blaine High School product, recorded 18 points on 10 goals and 8 assists. Reimann had 20 points in 62 games in Sioux Falls.

Also in the 2nd round, with the 52nd pick, St. Cloud selected Ryan Cutler of the Stouffville Spirit in the Ontario Junior Hockey League. Cutler is an Ontario native and 2003 born forward, and scored 49 points in 52 games in the OJHL last season.

In the 3rd round, the Norsemen selected Daniels Murnieks 62nd overall. Murnieks hails from Riga, Latvia and spent last season with Cedar Rapids in the USHL. Murnieks (2002) played in 33 games for the RoughRiders and also represented his home country in international play.

The next two picks for the Norsemen came from the New Jersey Rockets in the NCDC (National Collegiate Development Conference). St. Cloud selected Evan Brown in the 4th round, 115th overall, and Tyler Dysart in the 6th round, 173rd overall. Brown and Dysart are both forwards, from opposite sides of the country, playing together for the Rockets last season. Brown (2003) is a New Jersey native, while Dysart (2004) is from Sunnyvale, California.

The Norsemen went international again in the 7th round, selecting Czechia-born defenseman Adam Nedelka 202nd overall. Nedelka played for Dynamo Pardubice in Czechia’s U20 League, posting 17 points in 49 games and was plus-16.

St. Cloud made back-to-back defensive picks adding James Berg from the Dallas Stars Elite U18 team. The Dallas native captained his squad to a regional title, scoring 40 points and 18 goals in 51 games. Berg also played a pair of games in call-ups by the Odessa Jackalopes (NAHL).

The Norsemen added a goaltender in the 9th round with the 260th pick, selecting Wayzata High School netminder Will Ingemann. The lone 2005-born pick in St. Cloud’s draft, played in the last two seasons at Wayzata, posting a .926 save percentage and 1.74 goals against average in 26 games for the Trojans last year.

St. Cloud rounded out its selections with a pick from Minnesota high school and the NA3HL, taking Alexandria native Josiah Gronholz in the 10th round. Gronholz led his high school to the state tournament and a 4th place finish, scoring 61 points on 25 goals and 36 assists in 30 games. Gronholz also played for the Alexandria Blizzard in the NA3HL, scoring 17 points in 10 games last season.
