The St. Cloud Norsemen split their preseason series with the Minnesota Mallards over the weekend. Friday night the Norsemen pulled through with a 2-1 victory on home ice. The Mallards jumped out in front with a 2nd period goal, but the Norsemen responded with a goal from Blake Dosan off assists from Daylin Cline and Dominykas Sadauskas. With the score tied 1-1 and time winding down in the 3rd period, Easton Kennedy scored the game winner off assists from Jackson Dolfi and Sam Misak. Wesley Jefferson Swint-II and Carter Gardocki split the game in net. Jefferson Swint-II started and made 13 of 14 saves with Gardocki stopping all 12 shots he faced. Saturday night the Norsemen traveled to Forest Lake where the Mallards came away with a 6-2 victory. Dante Rodriguez and Evan Hinnenkamp each scored shorthanded goals for the Norsemen.
St. Cloud will wrap up their preseason schedule this week when they host the Austin Bruins Wednesday Sep 9th at the MAC. Puck drop is at noon and then will travel to Austin on Saturday Sep 12th for a 6 pm puck drop.
Home opening weekend is Sep 18 & 19 when the Norsemen host the Bismarck Bobcats. First 250 through the door on Friday night will receive magnet schedules compliments of Legends Bar & Grill plus five fans will shoot for $8k during intermission. Buffalos Wild Wings will have prizes all weekend and host a Wing Eating Contest on Saturday night.
