ST. CLOUD GOALIE BOLO NAMED TO WORLD JUNIORS ROSTER

St. Cloud Norsemen goaltender Tomas Bolo will represent his home country Slovakia at the IIHF World Junior Hockey Tournament in Red Deer, Alberta.

Bolo, a 2002-born, 6’2 native of Zilina, Slovakia, has a 9-3-0 record in 12 appearances for the Norsemen this season and sports a 2.29 goals against average and .904 save percentage.

“He has been a big contributor to our recent success,” said Norsemen head coach Corey Millen.

Bolo has previously represented Slovakia at the U18 level and is honored for the opportunity to play for Slovakia on the World Juniors stage.

“It means a lot. I love my country and I’m proud to wear this jersey. I’m very happy that they chose be to be on the team. It’s an amazing experience, to have the chance to be seen by scouts and everyone watching,” Bolo said.

Slovakia’s first matchup in the World Juniors is Sunday, Dec. 26 against the USA. The game can be seen on NHL Network in the U.S. and TSN in Canada, beginning at 8:30 p.m. CT.

The Norsemen (14-9-0-1) are winners of five of the last six games and have the top winning percentage in the North American Hockey League’s Central Division. St. Cloud returns to action on the road at Aberdeen on Dec. 31-Jan.1 and is back home January 7-8 at the Municipal Athletic Complex.
