St. Cloud, MN – Ben Helegeson’s overtime winner lifted the St. Cloud Norsemen over the Minot Minotauros in a 4-3 win on Friday night.

St. Cloud took the early lead when Nate Warner scored his second of the season after tipping a Jordon Halverson shot into the back of the net. Brett Chorske added to the Norsemen lead with his eighth of the season just 27 seconds later.

In the second, Minot got on the board with a Jay Buchholz goal. Blake Mesenburg scored to regain the two-goal advantage for St. Cloud before Cade Stibbe scored a powerplay goal to make the score 3-2 in favor of the Norsemen.

The opening seconds of the third saw Buccholz score a tying goal for Minot which would eventually send the game to overtime at 3-3.

With an overtime powerplay opportunity, St. Cloud used tic-tac-toe passing to find Captain Ben Helgeson on the back post for the game winning goal.

Goaltender Josh Langford earned his second victory of the season and stopped 30 of 33 Minotauros shots.

With the win, the Norsemen improve to 10-18-1 and will take on the Minot Minotauros on Saturday, March 6th at 7:00PM in St. Cloud. Mark Shelley will provide the Play-By-Play on the Lyon Sheet Metal & Heating Norsemen Network beginning at 6:55PM on HockeyTV.
