The St. Cloud Norsemen have signed Willmar Warhawks defenseman Jake Hosszu to a North American Hockey League tender.
Hosszu has appeared in 46 games in the NAHL, spending his last seven games with Norsemen affiliate Willmar in the NA3HL. Hosszu is a 5’11 right-shot defender from Woodbury, Minnesota and a graduate of St. Paul Academy. Hosszu posted 6 points in 7 games for Willmar this season.
“Jake was an excellent addition to our team at the deadline this year,” said Willmar head coach Kirk Olimb.
“He is a player who can really skate, plays with an edge, and has a lot of NAHL experience over the last two seasons. I think he will be a great addition to the Norsemen defense next year,” Olimb said.
The St. Cloud Norsemen have also tendered Andrew Clarke, Andrew Knapp, Dakota Lenz, Hogan Sinjem and Max Strand as well as defenseman Leo Gruba, Anthony Ruklic and Wyatt Wurst this season. Gruba is ranked in the top 100 among North American skaters in the latest NHL Central Scouting 2022 draft rankings, while Strand was named Minnesota’s Mr. Hockey.
St. Cloud (32-15-2-1) is in first place in the Central Division with a seven-point advantage over second place Aberdeen. The Norsemen visit Bismarck for a series this weekend, and return home Friday, April 1 at 7:00 p.m. to face the North Iowa Bulls at the St. Cloud Municipal Athletic Complex.
