NORSEMEN BLANK WILDERNESS TO CLAIM WEEKEND SWEEP

ST. CLOUD SWEEP MINNESOTA

The St. Cloud Norsemen secured a weekend sweep as they defeated the Minnesota Wilderness on November 3-4 by scores of 4-0 and 3-0 with game one being at home in St. Cloud, Minn. Game two took place on the road at Northwoods Credit Union Arena.

With the sweep, St. Cloud has 20 points which puts them in third place for the central division behind Minot (23 points) and divisional leader Austin (25 points).

Game 1-  The home team came out flying as they put two goals on the board in the first and second periods of play. Hudson Blue (Costa Mesa, Calif.) and Andrew Cumming (St. Cloud, Minn.) each lit the lamp during the first stanza. Tyler Dysart (Sunyvale, Calif.) netted two goals in the second to extend the two goal lead. Both teams played a scoreless third period. St. Cloud secured a 4-0 victory.

Goaltender Ryan Manzella (Eagan, Minn.) stopped 18 shots for the shutout. Wilderness goaltender Nick Erickson stopped 21 of 25 shots faced.

Game 2-  The Norsemen came out hot once again in game two of the series. Cumming drew first blood claiming his second goal of the series giving the visitors the lead in the first period. Blue netted his second goal of the series from a Michael Coleman (Grand Forks, N.D.) feed. Lucca Munoz (Chicago, Ill.) finished off the night’s scoring as he put home his fifth goal of the season.

Manzella notched his second shutout of the weekend stopping 30 shots. Adam Prokop made 26 saves for the Wilderness.

Next on Schedule- St. Cloud will Odde Ice Center to face the Aberdeen Wings on November 10-11.  Puck drop for both contests will be at 7:15 p.m.
