ABERDEEN, SD – The St. Cloud Norsemen, in their season opening game against the Aberdeen Wings, fell 4-1 on Friday night inside of the Odde Ice Center in Aberdeen, SD.

Early in the first period, the hosts took the 1-0 lead when Thomas Manty directed a rebound into the back of the net that sent the Aberdeen faithful into a frenzy.

After the Wings held the 1-0 advantage at the end of the first, Jack Suchy erased the lead and tied the game for St. Cloud on a second chance opportunity trickled into the back of the net.

Suchy and the Norsemen’s celebration was short-lived as Nathan Mann regained the Wings lead just under 60 seconds later. Later in the frame, the Wings extended their lead as Jackson Yee netted his first of the year.

In the third period, Liam Fraser further secured the Aberdeen victory with a cleanup goal for his first of the year.

The Norsemen will return to action on Saturday night against the Aberdeen Wings at 7:15 PM at the Odde Ice Center. Mark Shelley will broadcast the game live on the Lyon Sheet Metal and Heating Norsemen Network on HockeyTV.
