NORSEMEN FALL IN PENALTY-FILLED SCRAP IN ABERDEEN

Jan 16, 2021

Aberdeen, SD – The St. Cloud Norsemen ended the weekend empty-handed as they fell to the Aberdeen Wings 4-0 on Saturday night.

The Norsemen fell behind early as a powerplay turnover led to Payton Matsui finding the back of the net, shorthandedly, giving the wing the 1-0 advantage. Late in the period, Wings extended the lead to 2-0 when Cade Neilson added to his season total.

In a penalty-filled second period, Aberdeen was the lone team to find the back of the net as Clayton Cosentino scored on the breakaway for the 3-0 advantage.

The third period, which saw chaotic scrums and a pair of fights, gave way to a fourth goal for the wings by the hands of Spencer Schneider.

With the loss, the Norsemen drop to 3-9-0 and will take on the Bismarck Bobcats on Friday, January 22 at 7:15PM at the VFW Center in Bismarck, ND. Mark Shelley will provide the Play-By-Play on the Lyon Sheet Metal & Heating Norsemen Network beginning at 7:10PM on HockeyTV.
