NORSEMEN FALL IN SHOOTOUT FRIDAY, LOSE IN REGULATION ON SATURDAY

The Matchup- The St. Cloud Norsemen fell to the Aberdeen Wings by scores of 3-2, 4-3 on December 8-9 at home.

A Look at the Central-  The Norsemen sit in third place with 33 points. They are a half a game back from the Bismarck Bobcats and six points behind league leading Minot.

Series Review-   In game one, Tyler Dysart (Sunnyvale, Calif.) opened up the scoring four minutes into the first period (16:07). Aberdeen knotted the contest up via a goal from Nikolai Tishkevich before the end of the opening frame. Branden Panzer (Grand Forks, N.D.) would give St. Cloud a second period lead when he received a feed from Carter Bradley (St. Louis, Mo.). Simon Pollock would tie the game up for Aberdeen to force the contest into overtime. After no score in the overtime period, Grant Kohnen would score the game winning goal in the shootout for the Wings to make the final score 3-2. 

In game two, Kyle Miller (San Jose, Calif.) and Michael Coleman (Grand Forks, N.D.) would get on the board for St. Cloud. Drew Mackie would light the lamp for Aberdeen and Tishkevich finished the scoring in the first period to tie the game up. Gavin Gunderson (Roseau, Minn.) put the Norsemen in front once again. It was Aberdeen that dominated the third period after they received goals from Tishkevich (third goal of the series) and Matthew Wisener. Aberdeen would win game two 4-3.

Between the Pipes- Max Weilandt (Northbrook, Ill.) turned aside 27 of 29 shots for St. Cloud in game one. Ryan Manzella (Eagan, Minn.) and Weilandt split time for the second game of the series. Manzella made 23 saves on 27 shots. Weilandt did not see a shot on Saturday.

Up Next on Schedule- The Norsemen will travel to Bismarck, North Dakota and VFW Arena to face the Bismarck Bobcats on Dec. 15-16. Puck drop for both contests will take place at 7:15 p.m. (C.T)
