NORSEMEN FALL TO AUSTIN IN HOME-AND-HOME SERIES

ST. CLOUD SWEPT BY SCORES OF 1-0 AND 2-1

The Matchup: St. Cloud (20-17-5) were swept by the third place Austin Bruins (26-19-2) in a home-and-home series by scores of 1-0 and 2-1 on Mar. 1-2.

A Look at the Central: After this weekend, the Norsemen sit in fifth-place in the Central Division with 52 points. Austin is in third-place behind Bismarck and Minot as they have 55 points.

Series Review: In game one, Dylan Cook scored the lone goal and tallied his 12th of the season for Austin who went 0 for 2 on power play opportunities. St. Cloud had a 29-19 shot advantage. Kyle Miller (San Jose, Calif.), Sammy Crane (Aurora, Ill.), and Tyler Dysart (Sunnyvale, Calif.) recorded a team-high three shots. For the Bruins, the goal-scorer Cook led Austin with four shots. Despite being outshot, Austin claimed the 1-0 win on Friday night.

In game two, Austin struck first when Gustav Noren received a feed at the top of the circles from Will Diamond to net his 12th of the season. The Norsemen struck back seven minutes into the second period courtesy of Peyton Mithmuangneua (Aldergrove, B.C.). Michael Coleman (Grand Forks, N.D.) and Dysart recorded the assists. In the third period, Reilley Kotai scored the game winner at the 14:34 mark of the frame.

Between The Pipes:

Game 1:  Max Weilandt (Northbrook, Ill.) made 18 saves while facing 19 shots. Trent Wiemken made 29 saves and secured a shutout in the Friday night win for Austin.

Game 2:  Ryan Manzella (Eagan, Minn.) made 13 saves while facing 15 shots. Vilgot Holm made 23 saves in the Saturday night win for the Bruins.

Up Next on the Schedule:

The Norsemen host a two-game series against the Austin Bruins on Mar. 8-9 at the St. Cloud Municipal Athletic Complex at Torrey Arena. Both contests will be played at 7:00 P.M. (C.T.)
