ST. CLOUD DEFEATED BY BOBCATS 6-4
The Matchup: St. Cloud (22-18-5) fell to the second-place Bismarck Bobcats (34-14-1) in a single game weekend contest by a score of 6-4 on March 16 at the Saint Cloud Municipal Athletic Complex inside Torrey Arena.
A Look at the Central: After this weekend, the Norsemen sit in fifth-place in the Central Division with 56 points. Bismarck is in playoff contention as they clinched a second place spot in the Central Division.
Series Review: St. Cloud opened up the scoring with a Jack Christ (Chaska, Minn./Chanhassen H.S.) tally at 4:03 of the first period. Chase Beacom tied the contest up for the Bobcats at the 12:15 mark of the frame. The Norsemen would take the lead into intermission when Christ found Hagen Moe (Grand Rapids, Mich./Springfield Jr. Blues/NAHL) in the slot to make the game 2-1. In the second period, Bismarck received five goals from Patrick Johnson, Luke Roelofs, Julian Beaumont and Kade Kohanski. Hudson Blue (Costa Mesa, Calif./Sioux Falls Power/TIEHL U18) scored the lone goal of the period. In the final stanza, Rhys Wallin (Wayzata, Minn./ Wayzata H.S.) put the fourth goal on the board for STC to close the regulation’s scoring. Bismarck went on to win 6-4.
Between The Pipes:
Max Weilandt (Northbrook, Ill./Dubuque/USHL) and Ryan Manzella (Eagan, Minn./Sioux Falls Power/TIEHL U18) split time in the contest. Weilandt made 17 saves while facing 23 shots. Manzella turned aside two shots. For Bismarck, Stephen Peck made 36 saves in the victory.
