NORSEMEN OFFENSE UPENDS BISMARCK IN FRIDAY NIGHT WIN

Feb 19, 2021

Bismarck, ND – A late game save by Paxton Geisel and a well-rounded offensive performance powered the St. Cloud Norsemen to a 4-2 victory over the Bismarck Bobcats on Friday night.

Mid-way through the first period, Bismarck would score the opening goal of the game with a powerplay goal from Luke Gramer. With time winding down in the frame, Nik Hong leveled the game for the Norsemen with his fifth goal of the season with just 4.8 seconds remaining.

In the second, Cooper Gay gave St. Cloud the 2-1 advantage with his first goal of his North American Hockey League career. Moments later, Patrick Johnson scored his first goal of the season to tie the game for Bismarck. The late stages of the period saw a cross-slot feed from Brendan Kim find Brett Chorske who dropped the puck to Logan Kittleson who rifled in his second of the season for the 3-2 lead.

With time working against Bismarck, the Bobcats fed the puck through the slot for a backdoor shot that was shut down by Norsemen goaltender Paxton Geisel. A late Norsemen powerplay saw Chase Freiremuth score his third of the season to secure a 4-2 Norsemen victory.

Geisel stopped 24 of 26 Bismarck shots while recording his eighth win of the season.

With the win, the Norsemen improve to 8-15-0 and will take on the Bismarck Bobcats on Saturday, February 20 at 7:30PM at home at the Municipal Athletic Complex in St. Cloud. Mark Shelley will provide the Play-By-Play on the Lyon Sheet Metal & Heating Norsemen Network beginning at 7:25PM on HockeyTV.
