NORSEMEN SPLIT ABERDEEN IN SECOND MEETING
The Saint Cloud Norsemen split this weekend’s road series against the Aberdeen Wings at Odde Ice Center on November 10-11.
A LOOK AT THE CENTRAL DIVISION- Saint Cloud sits in fourth place and is tied with the Bismarck Bobcats who also have 22 points. The Norsemen are five points behind divisional front runner the Minot Minotauros.
GAME 1- Saint Cloud fell to Aberdeen 4-2 on Friday night. Keaton Orrey (Eagan, Minn.) opened up the scoring as he tallied his first goal of the season. At the 12:35 mark of the first Weston Turner knotted things up for Aberdeen.
In the second stanza of play it was all offense for the home side as Jackson Anderson and Grant Kohnen each found the back of the net to put the Wings up 3-1.
Niklas Miller (Howell, Mich.) brought Saint Cloud within one but it was Kohnen who scored the game winner as he deposited the puck into the back of the empty net.
Ryan Manzella (Eagan, Minn.) made 24 saves in the loss. Adam Dybal turned aside 35 shots for Aberdeen.
GAME 2- Saint Cloud defeated the Wings 2-1 to claim the series split on Saturday night. Hagen Moe opened up the scoring for the Norsemen when he lit the lamp nine minutes into the contest.
The Wings responded with a Logan Gravnik goal to score the last goal of the period at 13:52. After a scoreless middle frame, Michael Coleman (Grand Forks, N.D.) tallied his fifth goal of the season.
Lucca Munoz (Chicago, Ill.) and Kyle Miller (San Jose, Calif.) registered the assists. This was Miller’s seventh point of the season. Munoz recorded his sixth point of the year as well.
Manzella (Eagan, Minn.) was credited with the win stopping 21 shots in 60 minutes of ice time. Croix Kochendorfer stopped 34 shots in the contest after facing 36.
NEXT ON THE SCHEDULE- Saint Cloud will travel to face the Bismarck Bobcats at VFW Arena on November 17-18. Puck drop for both contests will be at 7:15 C.T.
