NORSEMEN SET FOR WEEKEND HOME-AND-HOME WITH AUSTIN

The St. Cloud Norsemen play one of the team’s final three regular season home games this Saturday night when the Austin Bruins visit the first place Norsemen at the St. Cloud Municipal Athletic Complex for a 7:00 p.m. game. Tickets are sold online at tickets.stcloudnorsemen.com

The Norsemen hold a nine-point lead for first place in the North American Hockey League Central Division over second place Aberdeen and are 10 points ahead of third place Austin. The top four teams in the division will earn a Robertson Cup Playoffs postseason berth.

St. Cloud is 31-14-2-1 overall while Austin is 25-21-2-3. The Norsemen hold the lead in the season series with a 6-3 advantage. St. Cloud leading scorer Ryan O’Neill (Roseville, MN // Univ. of St. Thomas) has 61 points on the season with 27 goals and 34 assists. In nine games against the Bruins, O’Neill has 16 points with 9 goals and 7 assists, with a pair of hat tricks.

The Norsemen hold a home ice advantage, with a 20-5-1-2 record at the MAC, the most home wins in the NAHL, and have outscored their opponents by 50 at home. St. Cloud is ranked fifth in the league in points in the standings, fourth in win percentage. The Norsemen power play is 7th in the league while the penalty kill is 8th overall, but leads the NAHL with 13 shorthanded goals. The Bruins are the most heavily penalized team in the league with 1192 penalty minutes, while the Norsemen are one of the least, with 666.

The weekend series begins on the road at Austin’s Riverside Arena on Friday at 7:00 p.m. and returns to the St. Cloud Municipal Athletic Complex on Saturday at 7:00 p.m. Games are broadcast live on the Lyon Sheet Metal and Heating Norsemen Network on HockeyTV.
