ST. CLOUD SET FOR HOME-AND-HOME SERIES WITH AUSTIN

Nov 4, 2021

St. Cloud, Minn. – This weekend, the St. Cloud Norsemen will face the Austin Bruins for a home-and-home weekend series, beginning Friday at the Municipal Athletic Complex in St. Cloud. Saturday’s game is set for Riverside Arena in Austin. Faceoff for each contest is scheduled for 7:00 pm.

The Norsemen and Bruins met once this season, a 5-3 victory by Austin on October 8. St. Cloud held a 3-2 advantage midway through the third period before Austin scored two goals in 45 seconds to take the lead for good.

Austin sits atop the Central Division at 10-3-1-1. Starting fast has been the key to success for the Bruins, sporting a 5-0-0-0 record when leading after the first period. Offensively, the Bruins are led by forwards Jens Richards (11G-7A) and Carson Riddle (7G-11A). Richards enters Friday with three goals over his last four games, including one in each of Austin’s wins over Aberdeen last weekend.

For the Norsemen (7-4-0-0, 5th place in the Central Division), Ryan O’Neill (5G-12A) leads the team in points and has collected at least one point in 10 of 11 games this season. O’Neill’s 1.55 points-per-game average is currently the second best mark across the entire North American Hockey League. Leading goal scorer Brandon Lajoie (8G-2A) will look to extend his scoring streak, as he lit the lamp twice in each game against Minot last weekend. Lajoie earned honors as the NAHL Central Division Star of the Week after his 4-goal, 5-point weekend.

Norsemen games are broadcast on HockeyTV ($) by St. Cloud’s play-by-play broadcaster Ashley Chase on the Lyon Sheet Metal & Heating Norsemen Network.
