ST. CLOUD SET FOR HOME OPENING WEEKEND

Sep 23, 2021

St. Cloud, Minn. – The St. Cloud Norsemen open the home portion of their 2021-22 season, presented by Premier Real Estate, with a two-game set versus the Bismarck Bobcats on Friday, September 24 and Saturday, September 25.  Faceoff from the Dave Torrey Arena at the Municipal Athletic Complex is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. each night.

The Norsemen enter the weekend with a 1-1 record, including an 8-1 victory over the Danbury Jr. Hat Tricks and a 3-1 setback against the Shreveport Mudbugs.  Logan Kittleson led St. Cloud with four points (1G-3A), while seven different Norsemen have scored through two games. Josh Langford started both games in net, sporting a save percentage of .882.

In addition to the regular season games, the Norsemen played the United States National Team Development Program and skated away with a 7-3 win in front of a standing room only crowd at the NAHL Showcase. The game was an exhibition and does not count towards the regular season record.

Bismarck visits St. Cloud still searching for its first win of the season after posting an 0-4 record at last week’s NAHL Showcase.  In addition to averaging over four goals allowed per game, the Bobcats have allowed the opening goal in each of their last three contests, including their most game, a 5-2 defeat versus the Springfield Jr. Blues.  Last season, Bismarck also started slow, winning just one of its first seven games.  The Bobcats rebounded to finish second in the Central Division with a record of 29-21-3-3.

This weekend’s games are the first of 12 meetings between the division rivals this year.  Bismarck won eight of the 12 matchups during the 2020-21 season, including five of six games played in St. Cloud.

The Norsemen want to pack the MAC this season and fans can do that by purchasing tickets at tickets.stcloudnorsemen.com. Tickets should be purchased in advance, online. Walkup ticket sales are done using your mobile device and going to our website.
