NORSEMEN FORWARD STRAND, MR. HOCKEY, COMMITS TO VERMONT

St. Cloud Norsemen forward and Minnesota’s Mr. Hockey Max Strand has announced his NCAA Division I commitment to the University of Vermont.

Strand has played in 21 games for the Norsemen in the last two seasons, scoring 18 points. Strand joined the current roster at the completion of a tremendous senior season at Roseau High School. The Roseau, MN native put up 78 points in 27 games for the Rams, scoring 36 goals and adding 42 assists.

In 13 games with the Norsemen this season, Strand has put up 13 points on 5 goals and 8 assists and is skating on St. Cloud’s top line and on the power play.

“I am extremely excited and honored to announce my commitment to play Division I hockey and continue my education at the University of Vermont,” said Strand.

“I’d like to thank God, my family, friends and coaches that have helped me along the way.”

Strand’s commitment marks the seventh NCAA Division I commitment on the active roster, along with Brandon Lajoie (Alaska-Anchorage), Blake Mesenburg (Miami), Evan Murr (Minnesota State), Ryan O’Neill (Univ. of St. Thomas), John Opilka (St. Cloud State) and Blake Perbix (Northern Michigan).

The Norsemen are the North American Hockey League Central Division regular season champions continues with a three road games, before wrapping the regular season at home on Saturday night, April 16 at 7:00 p.m. against North Iowa at the St. Cloud Municipal Athletic Complex. The Robertson Cup playoffs are set to begin in St. Cloud on April 22-23. Tickets for home games are available at tickets.stcloudnorsemen.com
